Too Easy Peach Cobbler



"Cobber made with slices of white bread instead of the traditional biscuit dough."
Original recipe yield: 1 - 8 inch square cobbler.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 6 fresh peaches - pitted, skinned, and sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 5 slices white bread

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Butter an 8 inch square baking dish.
  2. Cut crust from bread slices, and cut each into 4 or 5 slices. Spread fruit into prepared pan, and cover with a layer of bread slices.
  3. Beat together butter or margarine, sugar, flour, and egg. Pour mixture over the fruit and bread.
  4. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until golden brown.
