Baked Garlic Croutons



"These baked croutons made with olive oil and whole grain bread are a perfect accompaniment for any green salad. Try it with a flavored olive oil, such as a good smoked variety."
Original recipe yield: 1 1/2 cups croutons.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 large clove garlic, minced
  • 3 slices SARA LEE® Soft & Smooth™ Whole Grain White Bread
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large saute pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Stir in garlic; cook and stir for 1 minute. Add bread cubes, and toss to coat. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Spread on a baking sheet.
  3. Bake for 15 minutes, or until crisp and dry. Check frequently to prevent burning. Cool.
