LaVanda's Fried Chicken



"My family's favorite fried chicken."
Original recipe yield: 4 to 6 servings.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 (3 pound) whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 cups cornflakes cereal crumbs
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 egg, beaten

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Rinse chicken pieces in cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Mix the corn flakes, garlic salt, pepper and paprika in a shallow dish.
  3. Dip the chicken pieces in the egg then roll in the corn flakes mixture.
  4. Put a small amount of cooking oil in a non-stick skillet. Heat on medium high heat until water sizzles on the surface.
  5. Place chicken pieces in the hot skillet and cook until internal temperature of the leg reaches 180 degrees F and the juices run clear.
